Artist Chen Xiaoyi explores the Hengduan Mountains for high mountain lakes, capturing nature’s elusive essence. Through her video and photographs, she intertwines reality and illusion, guided by the white conch as ecological memory.
Her video unfolds a journey where reality and illusion intertwine, guided by clues of the white conch as ecological memory, approaching the narrative of the earth’s life. The work is composed of still photographs taken along the way. Within the dimensions of photographs, memory, and imagination, she wields the medium’s enchantment, redrawing the axis of finitude and transcendence, sketching a vanished landscape, also endeavoring to find the invisible paths within images vast and silent, allowing the enigmatic ‘world’ to unfold and reveal itself.

We are excited to announce the release of Bone Lhamokyap’s latest EP, Sounds of Shambhala.

The EP serves as the soundtrack for the upcoming documentary for The Lotus Born Master documentary series directed by Laurence J. Brahms. Shambhala Studio – Himalayan Extreme Expeditions.

The EP features also the voice of Jiayang Lhamu, chanting the powerful Kalachakra mantra from the Shambhala lineage.

Imagine a place untouched by time, hidden away in the heart of the Himalayas —a legendary kingdom where wisdom, peace, and beauty reign supreme. Welcome to Shambhala, a mystical realm said to lie between reality and dreams, where only those with pure hearts can enter. This ancient legend, has inspired spiritual seekers, storytellers, and explorers for centuries. Now, Bone Lhamokyap, brings the spirit of Shambhala alive through his latest musical release, Sounds of Shambhala, launched under Shambhala Records Studio.

This EP is more than an album; it’s a guided journey, a soundscape that transports listeners into a realm where time slows, space dissolves, and inner peace flows. Bone has crafted this collection of music as both a standalone masterpiece and a soundtrack to an upcoming film by the acclaimed filmmaker and explorer Laurence J. Brahm.

A Unique Collaboration: The Roots of Sounds of Shambhala

Laurence J. Brahm , founder of Shambhala Studio, has dedicated years to exploring the Himalayas and the stories they hold. An international award-winning filmmaker, Brahm has created a series of films documenting the life of the Lotus Born Master (Padmasambhava), the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, along with a science fiction series inspired by the ancient prophecies of Shambhala. Known for his deep understanding of Himalayan culture and his love for environmental conservation, Brahm brings to life the beauty and mystery of these hidden worlds.

Through a meeting that could only be described as “karmic,” Bone Lhamokyap and Laurence Brahm began collaborating on projects that bridge the mystical with the modern. With Sounds of Shambhala, Bone’s music merges with Brahm’s vision, creating a cinematic experience for listeners that reflects the spirit of this hidden kingdom and the timeless wisdom it represents.

The Tracks of Sounds of Shambhala

The EP is composed of five transformative tracks, each evoking a different aspect of Shambhala’s magic:

  1. Introduction
  2. No Time, No Space (Featuring Jiayang Lhamu)
  3. There is no final destination
  4. Shambhala
  5. Never Goes Away (Bonus Track)

Bone Lhamokyap composed, produced, and performed each piece himself, blending the depth of New Age and ambient music  with his own handcrafted instruments, like his signature flutes. The soundscape feels expansive and  meditative, allowing listeners to close their eyes and journey to a place of inner stillness.

A highlight of the EP is “No Time, No Space,” which features Jiayang Lhamu ‘s hauntingly beautiful vocals chanting the Kalachakra mantra.

This mantra, part of an ancient Buddhist teaching, is especially meaningful today as it embodies a prayer for peace and harmony, a message that resonates universally. As Jiayang’s voice weaves through Bone’s soundscape, listeners may feel as if they’re connecting to something far beyond themselves, a reminder of our shared human experience and desire for peace.
A Homage to Ancestry and Nature

Bone’s music is deeply influenced by his heritage: the Shongomah (Sangemao) people, a small Tibetan minority whose traditions are fading away. For Bone, music is a way of keeping these traditions alive, of sharing the beauty of his homeland’s rivers, mountains, and skies with the world. Each track resonates with his love for his native valley in Zhouni Nalang, where the wisdom of the mountains and the flow of the rivers have shaped his spirit and art.Bone has spent more than a decade honing his craft, both as a solo artist and as the founder of the SREINA band. Skilled in a range of instruments, from guitar to keyboard to his own self-crafted flutes, he brings a rich, soulful energy to his music, blending ancient sounds with modern electronic harmonies.

Bone’s music is a journey that has taken him across stages worldwide, from Asia to Europe to the United States. This year, Bone’s groundbreaking work earned him the Best New Age Award at the Gate of Nine Dragons Underground Music Festival 2024 in Beijing.

His work in Sounds of Shambhala is the next step in his journey, a fusion of his Tibetan heritage and his vision of a peaceful, united world.
